President Jokowi Signs Regulation on COVID-19 Mitigation, National Economic Recovery
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs gives a press statement after meeting with President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (20/7).
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (20/7) signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 82 of 2020 on COVID-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery Team.
Under the Presidential Regulation, the President commissions a policy committee and establishes a team to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and to rebuild the economy.
The COVID-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery Team will be led by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartato as Chairperson and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto as Deputy Chairpersons.
Meanwhile, Minister of SOEs acts as Executive Chairperson and is tasked to oversee the COVID-19 mitigation and economic recovery team.
“Pak Doni is still in charge of COVID-19 Task Force Chairperson and Deputy SOEs Minister Pak Budi Gunadi Sadikin will lead the Economic Recovery Task Force,” Airlangga Hartato said.
In the meantime, the Economic Recovery Task Force has duties to monitor the national economic situation, the development of COVID-19 in terms of availability of test equipment, as well as development of vaccines and antibodies and multi-year economic programs, the Coordinating Minister added.
“We are aware that COVID-19 pandemic recovery will take time; therefore, the President has given the mandate to the team to fully plan and execute the programs so the COVID-19 mitigation and economic recovery can be handled simultaneously in the sense that both are handled by a single institution for maximum coordination,” he said.
