President Jokowi: Stay Away from Illicit Drugs and Violence

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has urged Indonesian youths to stay away from illicit drugs and violence.
Those two will destroy Indonesian young generation to become a new leader of the nation in the future, the President stated in a seminar on Say No to Drugs and Stop Violence and Pornography before students on the third day of his working visit to Papua, on Friday (13/4).

The seminar attended by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo was held at Graha Lux ex Oriente, West Sorong Regency, Sorong City.

Before junior and high school students, the Head of State illustrated that in the next 20 to 30 years, young generation will stand as candidates of the nation leaders designated at local governments as regents, majors, and governors. And it is not impossible for them, according to the President, to be the number one person in this country.

“But to achieve it, or to be a success entrepreneur as well, people must study hard, work hard, do not be a spoiled brat and lazy person to pursue a great ideal,” the President persuaded. However, the Head of State said that study and be a smart student is not enough. He emphasized that Indonesian young generation nowadays is expected to realize the menace of illicit drugs and violence. “It becomes useless if youths are clever but use drugs. It is none. Be careful, stay away from drugs and violence,” the President said.

Moreover, to teachers and parents, the President stressed that Indonesia is famous of its good personality. Therefore, Indonesian youth is expected to preserve national values by implementing manner and hospitality which are continuously taught so that they are hindered from the menace of drugs.

For a record, before attending the seminar, President Jokowi along with the First Lady began their activities by visiting Theresia Kindergarten in Sorong City, West Papua Province. The President and the First Lady observed the learning process of Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED). The President played and had dialogue with the children at the playground.

Before performing Friday Prayer (at noon), the President and Ibu Iriana visited the socialization on Health, TBC Disease, and IVA Test (early detection of cervical cancer) Program at Remu Community Health Centre (Puskesmas), Sorong Manoi District, Sorong City.

In the afternoon, after having lunch together, the President and Ibu Iriana along with the entourage flew to Semarang City, Central Java Province, on a presidential airplane from Domine Eduard Osok Airport, Sorong City. (BPMI/EN) (EPI/YM/Naster)
