President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo meets with CEO of Bukalapak Achmad Zaky at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Saturday (16/2).

After the meeting, Zaky said that he apologized to the President for his tweet on Government research fund. He also praised the President who has personally invited him to the palace.

On that occasion, Zaky also appreciated the Government’s supports for innovation in Indonesia.

“Bukalapak will support (the Government). Bukalapak has developed research centers in Bandung and will soon develop the others in Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Medan,” Zaky said, adding that he has clarified his tweet and that his tweet is based on data from Wikipedia.

He went on to say that President Jokowi accepted his apology and called on public to stop “uninstall Bukalapak.”

Zaky further said that the most important thing in dealing with the future competition is developing high-quality human capital, research and technology. (AGG/OJI/ES)
