President Jokowi Stresses Importance of Single Data Base to Boost MSMEs’ Sustainability

In a bid to further develop sustainable micro, small, medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (03/28) emphasized the importance of a single database.  

“We must continue to imprive comprehensive and accurate single data collection. We must have a single database of MSMEs that can navigate the development of MSMEs so that it will be more focused, targeted and sustainable. The measure will also bring small enterprises players actors as well as cooperatives to be more advanced and prosperous,” the President said in his remarks online at the Inauguration of the National Coordination Meeting on the 2022 Digital Transformation and Data Collection of Cooperatives and MSMEs from the State Palace in Jakarta.

In addition to the data collection, President Jokowi also encouraged the upstream, downstream improvements so that the products of MSMEs in Indonesia will be more qualified and able to compete with other products.  

“I have signed the Presidential Regulation Number 2 of 2022 on the 2021-2024 National Entrepreneurship Development. It is my hope that our national entrepreneurship ecosystem will improve.  It is also expected that new young entrepreneurs will be born and there will be young entrepreneurs who are productive, creative, ready to make advancement of Indonesian MSMEs to compete in the global market,” the President added.

For the record, today’s national coordination meeting was attended by 1.200 participants, namely 200 participants were joining offline and 1.000 participants were online. (TGH/UN) (AP/EP)
