President Jokowi Submits 7 Judicial Commission Member Candidates to House of Representatives

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo submitted 7 names of Judicial Commission (KY) member candidates for the 2020-2025 selected by the selection committee to the House of Representatives.

“The President, through letter Number R.41/PRES/10/2020 dated 5 October 2020 has submitted 7 names of candidates for the 2020-2025 KY to the House of Representatives,” Minister of State Secretary Pratikno said at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Wednesday (7/10).

According to Pratikno, these names represented various elements, namely:

  1. Joko Sasmito, representing retired (Supreme Court) judges;
  2. M Taufik HZ, representing retired (Supreme Court) judges;
  3. Sukma Violetta, representing legal practitioners;
  4. Binziad Kadafi, representing legal practitioners;
  5. Amzulian Rifai, representing academics;
  6. Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata, representing academics;
  7. Siti Nurjanah, representing elements of society.

Pratikno added that the presidential letter was received by the House of Representatives on Tuesday (6/10). He expressed hope that the House will immediately follow up on the letter. “We sincerely hope that the Speakers and members of the House to follow up on the Presidential Letter,” he said.

The selection committee was formed in mid-March 2020 to select candidates for KY members who will replace members of the current period whose term of office will end on 20 December 2020. The committee consists of Maruarar Siahaan as chairman and member, as well as Harkristuti Harkrisnowo, Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, Ahmad Fikri Assegaf, and I Dewa Gede Palguna as members.

“The committee has worked very intensively with great care and through a long process,” Pratikno stated. (FID/UN)
