Minister of State Secretary Pratikno asserted that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has signed a Presidential Letter (Supres) on revision to the Law Number 30 of 2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“The letter has already been submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR),” the Minister said at the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/9).

According to Pratikno, President Jokowi will reveal the Government’s stance on the revision later. The Government had also edited some of the contents in the Bill which was proposed by the House.

“The President will explain the detail later. Nevertheless, the List of Issue (DIM) submitted by the Government has very much revised the Bill proposed by the House,” he said adding that the House has the authority to revise laws, but it must be based on a joint agreement between the House and the Government.

“The President always says the KPK is an independent state institution in corruption eradication, thus it has more power than other corruption eradication institutions,” Pratikno concluded. (BPMI Setpres/ES)
