President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (29/1) in the West Java town of Cimahi launched the 2030 Tuberculosis-Free Campaign.

According to the President, Indonesian people must all be healthy so that the Government can focus on human capital development in the next five years. “For that reason, I fully support the campaign,” President Jokowi said at the event.

He went on to say that an unhealthy society may affect education as well as work performance.

“Thus I appreciate the community health center (puskesmas), communities, and volunteers who join the campaign,” the President said, adding that the more important thing other than the treatment for patients is the prevention of diseases.

“Infrastructure that supports public health, such as clean drainage, waste management, clean water supply, sufficient lighting and good air circulation at houses, are important to prevent the spread of diseases,” he stated.

Therefore, the President underlined that public health maintenance is not only the task of Ministry of Health, but also the task of Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing that is in charge of providing drainage and waste management system for the public.
