President Jokowi Takes His Time to Buy Noken Bags ahead of PON

On the way to his accommodation ahead of the 20th National Sports Week (PON), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo took the time to buy noken bags, knitted Papuan bags from local sellers.

“What kind of bag is it?” the President asked Paulina Adi, one of the women selling noken bags on the side of Hawai – Sentani Highway, Jayapura regency, Papua province, Friday (01/10).

“This bag is made of tree bark, Sir,” said Paulina Adi.

After choosing, the President decided to buy two noken bags.

Besides Paulina Adi, other sellers such as Anastasya Keren and Yulita Tebay expressed hope that the PON will boost the sales of the bags. (BPMI) (FI/MMB)
