President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo became a story teller at Love Reading event to celebrate National Book Day, at the central courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/5) afternoon.

The event was attended by around 500 elementary school and junior high school students. There were enthusiastic to be able to attend this event because it was their first time visiting the Palace. On that occasion, the President told a story for the students.

Before starting the story of Lutung Kasatung from West Java, the President asked several students to sit next to him that made the atmosphere even warmer. They were enthusiastic to listen to the story. The President told the story for about ten minutes.

The President then told the students to be honest  as well as to work and study hard. They must help each other and shall not insult their friends.

The President also reminded them not to forget to pray and love reading books, such as story books and event text books.

This event was also attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Puan Maharani, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, and Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, as well as Najwa Shihab as Duta Membaca (National Reading Ambassador).  (FID/JAY/ES) (MMB/YM/Naster)
