President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (10/11) ordered his Cabinet to prepare measures in anticipating the impact of the increasingly difficult global situation on the national economy.

“We have to test everything right up to plan A, plan B, plan C, plan D, plan E, and so on. We have to take it into account of worse, worst, all of them since the global situation is getting worse and we must properly prepare the anticipation on how it can affect the country,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at plenary cabinet meeting, at the State Palace, Jakarta.

In addition, the Head of State also ordered ministries/institutions to be attentive in implementing policies that could affect the national economy.

“For the global situation is really perilous,” he said, adding that inter-ministerial/institutional relations must be strengthened to face the global economic slowdown and food, energy, and financial crises.

According to the President, he will invite several ministers and coordinating ministers to discuss the stress test on how far the country will cope if the crises come.

President Jokowi also reminded the bureaucrats to focus on carrying out their duties according to their respective fields amid difficult and uncertain circumstances.

“Please make sure that the implementation of existing programs is beneficial. If it is not beneficial, it should be diverted to beneficial things,” he remarked. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/UN) (GWH/EP)
