President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (1/2) told recipients of Fostering the Economy of the Prosperous Family (known as Mekaar program) to create their product’s brand name as a way to marketing their products.

“Product branding, with memorable and catchy name, is essential to lure customers,” the President said when meeting the Mekaar program recipients in Magetan Regency, East Java province. Aside from branding, the products must have good packaging with competitive price, the President added.

On that occasion, the President also reminded the recipients to always maintain trust, self-discipline and hard work. “Trust from the customers and the lender company is very important, showed by maintaining product quality and paying installment on time. Self-discipline and hard work are also needed to improve the business,” President Jokowi said.

For the record, Mekaar program provides capital loan by state-owned community development institution PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) amounting to Rp2 – 4.5 million per person without collateral. To date, the number of recipients of the program throughout Indonesia has reached 4,184,889 people with non-performing loan of only 0.1 percent. In East Java province itself, until 31 January 2019 the program has already had 910,566 recipients. (EN/RAH/ES)
