President Jokowi Tells Ministers to Promote Investment Realization

President Jokowi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto in a Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Wednesday (7/12), at the Presidential Office, Jakarta

“I want investment can increase our capital inflow, and cash inflow in 2017, so that our economic growth will be concrete and we can see the result in 2017,” the President said.

According to the President, support from all ministries are substantially needed to realize the investment target of Rp670 trillion in 2017, and Rp840 trillion in 2018.

“At the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, big investment must be promoted so that it will be realized immediately, particularly those relating to oil and gas as well as electricity. Do not only report me the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA),” the President said.

President Jokowi asserted that the Government’s target is not to realize PPA, but to realize the financial closing, cash inflow, implementation on the ground, and recruitment. “Those are the goals that we want. If the investment and cash inflow can be really manifested, I guess we can surpass the 5.1 percent of economic growth target. I am so sure about it,” the President firmly said.

Therefore, President Jokowi urged all ministries overseeing investment affairs, including Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Ministry of Industry, and other ministries to be active.

The President also instructed all ministers to pay attention to this matter in order to bring concrete result immediately.

Also attending the meeting were, among others, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B.
