President Jokowi Tells Police to Guard Three National Strategic Agendas

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (07/05) has ordered the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to support the national strategic agendas.

First, the development of the new capital (IKN). Capital relocation is changing the way of work to drive Indonesia’s progress to the future and Polri must guard it so that it can run in smooth and timely manner,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at the commemoration of 76th Bhayangkara Day in Semarang city, Central Java province.

Second, the Head of State continued, is the G20 Presidency of Indonesia. “The highlight will be the G20 Summit in November this year in Bali, which will be attended by the heads of states of the G20 members,” he added.

Third, is the simultaneous general election (pemilu) in 2024 and the President ordered the Polri to provide maximum support for security and public order.

“The big democratic agenda for the legislative elections, presidential elections, and simultaneous regional elections in 2024 must be well anticipated,” he said.

In addition, President Jokowi also underscored a number of challenges that must be overcome together, namely handling of COVID-19 pandemic, new technology-based crimes, as well as various global uncertainties, such as energy crisis, food crisis, and financial crisis.

“Individual members of the Polri and its institutions must continue to innovate, be more adaptive, responsive, and transform into modern institutions and synergize with the Indonesian National Defense Force (TNI), ministries and institutions in carrying out their duties,” he remarked.
