President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called for comprehensive preparation of management on the ground ahead of this year’s Eid Day.

“Management on the ground must be more comprehensive and coordinated both in Central and Regional Governments,” the President said during a Limited Meeting on the Preparation ahead of Eid Day 2019 at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Friday (3/5).

The Government, the President added, must also ensure availability and stability of basic commodity prices. Infrastructures of mudik (annual exodus ahead of Eid Al-Fitr) route, modes of transport should be ready and fuel stocks should be sufficient ahead of this year’s Eid Day, he added.

Nevertheless, President Jokowi expressed belief that the operation of Trans Java Toll Road that connects Merak and Probolinggo, as well as Trans Sumatra Toll Road that connects Bakauheni and Palembang will support the mudik between regions or provinces.

The President also instructed the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) to collaborate to prevent any potential security and order disturbance during the fasting month of Ramadan so Muslims can pray in quiet, safe, and comfortable manners.   (DNA/FID/RAH/ES)
