President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (11/30) told Regional Leaders including Governors, Regents, Mayors to immediately realize the Regional Budget (APBD) in order to boost regional economic growth, while opening the 2022 National Coordination Meeting on Investment at the Ritz-Carlton in Jakarta.

Based on report from Minister of Finance, he added, as of October 2022, regional government funds deposited in bank reached Rp278.83 trillion, while underscoring that the realization will boost regional economic growth amidst the current difficult situation.

On that occasion, President Jokowi went on to say that he has ordered Minister of Home Affairs to check the reasons on unrealized budget. He added that the number of deposited funds is higher than last year which was only Rp210-220 trillion.

“If we compare with previous years, this year is higher. The cost of money is high. Once again, there is a price paid for [depositing the money],” the President said

President Jokowi further said that realization of national budget spending is higher than regional budget spending, namely 76 percent compared to 62 percent.

“Tomorrow is December. Please be cautious. It means that we have to do our best to gain capital inflow. We gain it through investment, but our budget on our account is not allocated to investment. We have to be cautious. It is a big mistake. Once again, it is a big mistake,” he remarked. (THG/UN) (AP/LW)
