President Jokowi climbs up a combat vehicle to watch the Armada Jaya XXXIV/2016 Exercise on Thursday (15/9), in Situbondo, East Java

Measures and steps taken by the Indonesian National Defense Force’(TNI) to take control of an area starts to show results.

The statement was made by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo after witnessing the maneuver of landing force battalion of the 34th TNI Marine Corps, Armada Jaya on Thursday (14/9), at the T12 Marine Warfare Exercise Center 5, in Baluran, Situbondo.

“So, yesterday we witnessed the combat exercise at sea. Today we watched an amphibious vehicle reaching land and we also watched land combat exercise performed by the marines,” President Jokowi said.

According to the President, the exercise which was held for two days (14-15 September 2016) will be carried on in order to upgrade and improve the exercise and adjust it with Indonesia strategic weapons.

“The event will be carried on regularly,” the President said.

Previously, during the first day of the exercise, codenamed “Armada Jaya XXXIV / 2016 on Wednesday (14/9), President Jokowi mentioned that it is the peak event of the exercise that is held by Indonesian Naval regularly every two years.

“We already tested our strategic weapons, including missile, artillery cannon, and anti-submarine missile,” the President added.

President Jokowi asserted that without routine exercise Indonesia will probably not understand how to improve its strategic weapons. (UN/DNA/JAY/ES) (RAS/EP/YM/Naster)
