President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reminded young officer candidates of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) to always uphold the state ideology Pancasila, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and the country’s motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity).

“Be consistent at realizing goals of the country, have strong spirit, be persistent, be optimistic for the glory and progress of the nation,” President Jokowi said in a message to young officer candidates of the TNI and Polri through social media account of the Presidential Secretariat, on Wednesday (8/7).

The President also told them to maintain the spirit of unity, brotherhood, and mutual cooperation. They must provide the best services for the people, nation, and country, he added.

“The TNI and Polri must unite to face future threats and challenges for the sake of the nation,” he stated.

Also on that occasion, President Jokowi reminded the young officer candidates to always remember support and prayer from their parents who have raised them with love, compassion, and sweat so they can become an officer.

“I thank the parents who have raised our nation’s officers and warriors,” he said.

The President also expressed gratitude to the TNI Commander and Polri Chief, as well as lecturers, trainers, and management of the TNI Academy and Polri Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat) for their hard work and dedication to set up a solid foundation in the characters of future leaders.

“May God the Almighty always bestow mercy and guidance upon us in our services to the nation and country,” the President said. (FID/EN)
