President Jokowi Thanks TNI for Commitment, Professionalism, Dedication

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo extended his greatest gratitude for the improving professionalism of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TN), the commitment of all members of the TNI in upholding oath of soldiers, and for the dedication of soldiers, in performing their tasks that are full of risks.

“Let me also extend my utmost gratitude for the central of the TNI in safeguarding the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), safeguarding Pancasila (state ideology), and keeping the dignity of the State,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at the 72nd Anniversary  of TNI in Dermaga Indah Kiat, Cilegon, Banten Province, Thursday (5/10).

President Jokowi also expressed his optimism that the TNI would become armed forces that are more and more respectable by other countries and will become a major force in Asia.

President Jokowi also believes and is confident that the TNI will always be on the vanguard in safeguarding the unity and the integrity of NKRI.

On that occasion, President Jokowi said he was proud of and impressed with the oath of soldiers in which the soldiers pledge to be loyal to the NKRI based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, abide by the laws and uphold disciplines, obey instructions or decisions, perform all obligations with full responsibilities to the NKRI, as well as keep all secrets of the soldiers earnestly.

He added that the oath is an honorable one.

“The commitment and the dedication of TNI soldiers are big for the state and the nation that brings dignity and nobleness for the Indonesian nation,” the President said.

According to President Jokowi, it is the foundation that must be upheld by the TNI and TNI soldiers and it is the foundation that all Indonesian people must emulate.

“It is the foundation that makes us stand tall in facing the challenges of the era that are often full of turbulence. It is the foundation that strengthens Indonesia in facing and winning global competitions,” President Jokowi said.

As previously reported, President Jokowi had to walk for 2 kilometer to the venue of the event after his car was struck in traffic congestion due to many residents who attended the event. The 72nd Commemoration of the TNI was enlivened by plays, a parade of defense tool, a simulation of air combat, a simulation of operation in tackling terrorism, as well as a demonstration of soldiers’ skills.

Accompanying the President during the event were First Lady Ibu Iriana Widodo, Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Ibu Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, a number of Ministers of the Working Cabinet and Ambassadors of friendly countries, Indonesian 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno and Ibu Tuti Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s 11th Vice President Boediono as well as Ibu Sinta Nuriyah Wahid.
