President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has kicked off an overseas working visit to attend the World Climate Action Summit COP28.

The President arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates on Thursday (11/30) at 16.25 local time after a 10-hour flight from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta.

Prior to his departure, President Jokowi pointed out that he will convey Indonesia’s stance and the importance of global collaboration to curb climate change.

“I will talk about Indonesia’s experience and reiterate the importance of global collaboration for climate finance and imperative inclusive transition to ensure development sustainability and social welfare in developing countries,” he said in his press statement.

According to the President, COP28 is highly expected to create a real global action to limit the global temperature rise.

“A real commitment must be strengthened, especially that of developed countries to climate finance, especially in achieving the net zero emission target,” he said.

During this working visit, the President is also slated to attend the Leaders’ Event: Transforming Food Systems in the Face of Climate Change in Dubai, the G77 + China Summit, and several bilateral meetings.

Upon the conclusion of the working visit, the President and his entourage will return home on December 3. (SLN/UN/BPMI SETPRES/AIT) (DH/MUR)
