Minister of State Secretary Pratikno has confirmed that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will attend the inauguration ceremony of the new President and Vice President at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on October 20.

“The President has confirmed that he will attend the inauguration ceremony on October 20,” the Minister told journalists at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/08).

The Minister went on to say that there are no regulations stating that President Jokowi’s presence at the inauguration is compulsory, but it has been a tradition for previous Presidents to attend the inauguration of the President-elect.

“In 2014, President SBY and Vice President Boediono attended the ceremony,” the Minister stated.

The Minister further said that a farewell ceremony is slated to be held at the Merdeka Palace after the inauguration.

“After the inauguration at the House of Representatives (DPR), the 7th President is planned to head for Merdeka place, followed by President Prabowo,” the Minister remarked. (BPMI Setpres/DNS) (RI/MMB)
