President Jokowi to Attend Session on Global Economy, Health at G20 Summit
On the first day of the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit held in Rome, Italy, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Saturday (30/10) is scheduled to attend a session on global health and economy.
“President of the Republic of Indonesia has a tight schedule, including attending a session on global health and economy,” Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said at the Splendide Royal Hotel, Rome, Friday (29/10).
President Jokowi is also slated to attend a side event related to small and medium enterprises and women-owned businesses and specially asked to be a speaker.
Previously, the President affirmed that the invitation showed the world’s acknowledgment of the Indonesian Government’s policy to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the role of women in the MSMEs.
“Afterwards, the President will also join a cultural event and a dinner which will be hosted by the Italian Prime Minister,” Retno said.
During the G20 Summit, the President will also hold bilateral meetings with six leaders, namely leaders from Australia, France, India, Turkey, Italy, and the World Bank.
Retno further said that the bilateral meeting agenda is still dynamic and may change according to the leaders’ schedules.
“There may still be some changes in bilateral meetings because there are still some requests for the meetings. We are currently trying to match the schedule, be it the schedule of the President and the schedule of other leaders,” she said.
In the meantime, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi on Friday (29/10), held three bilateral meetings at the ministerial level with the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Foreign Minister of India, as well as State Councilor and Foreign Minister of People’s Republic of China.
