President Jokowi to Attend Singapore National Day

Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has announced that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is slated to conduct an official visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday (8/8).

“(The President) will arrive in Kuala Lumpur in the evening. A series of his working visit will begin on Friday (9/8) morning until afternoon when the President performs Friday prayer in congregation with Tun (Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Mahathir Mohammad, red),” the Minister told reporters after accompanying President Jokowi receives credential of 12 new ambassadors of friendly countries at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (7/8).

Afterwards, the President is scheduled to leave for Singapore with Sultan and Prime Minister of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, and Tun Mahathir Mohammad at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Liong to attend the 54th National Day of Singapore.

“The President will not spend a night in Singapore. He is scheduled to return to Jakarta in the evening,” the she said. (HIM/JAY/ES)
