President Jokowi to Inaugurate Bintang Bano Dam in West Nusa Tenggara

In the series of working visit to West Nusa Tenggara province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Friday (01/14), is slated to inaugurate Bintang Bano Dam in West Sumbawa regency.

Departing from Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Central Lombok regency, at around 09:25 Central Indonesian Time, President Jokowi and the entourage left for West Sumbawa regency on Air Force’s Super Puma Helicopter.

Upon arrival at a helipad in Bintang Bano Dam, President Jokowi will inspect the dam and inaugurate it.

For the record, Bintang Bano Dam will be the third dam inaugurated by the President in the province. On previous occasion, he inaugurated Tanju Dam in 2018 and Mila Dam in 2019.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said that Bintang Bano Dam has the largest capacity among other dams in West Nusa Tenggara province with 76 million cubic meters of water. The Dam can irrigate 6,700 hectares paddy fields and is expected to double rice harvest season in a year.

The Minister went on to say that during President Jokowi’s term, the Government has been building 61 dams throughout the country to support national food security; six of which are built in West Nusa Tenggara province.

He added that there will be nine dams to be inaugurated in 2022, including Beringin Sila Dam in Sumbawa regency, West Nusa Tenggara that can accommodate 27 million cubic meters of water. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (RAS/LW)
