President Jokowi to Inspect Grasberg Mine, Launch 5G Mining Technology

On his third day of Papua working visit, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi and his entourage, Thursday (09/01) is scheduled to visit the Grasberg Mine of mining company PT Freeport Indonesia in Tembagapura district, Mimika regency.

The company is located at an altitude of 3,325-4,285 meters above sea level.

After the visit, the President is scheduled to visit an underground mine at OB 04 to inspect a control room for controlling heavy equipment with 5G technology.

Afterwards, the President is slated to go to DMLZ underground to inspect places of worship, namely the Jami Baabul Munawwar Mosque and the Soteria Oikumene Church.

The President will also head to Tera Shop to launch the latest technology in mining sector, namely 5G mining technology, which is collaboration between telecommunication company Telkom Group and PT Freeport Indonesia.

In his remarks during a gathering with PT Freeport Indonesia employees Wednesday (08/31), the President said he would inspect the mining management using 5G mining technology the following day.

In the afternoon, the President and Ibu Iriana Jokowi are scheduled to depart to Tanimbar Islands regency in Maluku province onboard RJ-85 Presidential Aircraft via Mozes Kilangin International Airport in Timika. (TGH/BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/EP)
