President Jokowi to Meet with President Trump

Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo is set to meet with US President Donald Trump, di Hamburg, Germany, in the near future.

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said the meeting would be done on the sidelines on the G-20 Summit in Hamburg, 7-8 July. She added that many countries have requested to have bilateral talks with President Jokowi.

“We are arranging schedule but so far yang 6 world leaders, including President Trump, have confirmed to have bilateral talks with President Jokowi and one more leader has not confirmed due to schedule issues because it is done on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit,” the Minister said to reporters at the Merdeka Palace on Monday (3/7).

Retno said although President Jokowi had once talked to President Trump on the phone and both leaders met in a summit in Riyadh, it would be the first tome for both leaders to have a bilateral talk, which will discuss other bilateral issues other than the issue of countering terrorism measures.

Retno added that President Jokowi is also slated to have bilateral talks with leaders from the Netherlands, Norway, Vietnam, Spain and possibly from South Korea. (FID/JAY/ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
