President Jokowi to Sign Decree on Additional Posts for High Ranking TNI Officials
The Government will continue to take measures to enhance performance of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), one of which by adding 100 positions of the TNI high-ranking officials, President Joko Jokowi Widodo has said.
For this matter, the President stated he will immediately sign the decree of additional high-ranking TNI officials. That number, he added, will continue to be reviewed and it is still possible to add more positions in the future.
Earlier I learned that the draft decree is still being processed in Ministry of Defense, maybe next week it will arrive at my desk, President Jokowi said during Iftar dinner with family members of the TNI/ Polri and the public at the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta, Thursday (16/5).
President Jokowi went on saying that operational budget of the Village Supervisory Non-Commissioned Officers (Babinsa) had increased last year, while the salary of the TNI/ Polri personnel had increased by 5% this year. The increase is only 5% since our economy is not as strong as expected due to the global economic slowdown, he said.
Meanwhile regarding the Eid al Fitr Allowances (THR), the President ensured it will be disbursed at the end of this month, followed by the 13th salary in July.
“Hopefully, the THR can be disbursed at the end of May, while the 13th salary will be disbursed in July,” President Jokowi said, followed by applause from the audience. (MAY/RAH/ES)
