President Jokowi: Tree-planting is Concrete Actions against Climate Change

On the last day of East Nusa Tenggara working visit, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo participated in a joint tree planting activity with local communities and students to show Indonesia’s concrete action against climate change.

According to the President, the activity has also been conducted in other regions throughout the country.

“We want to promote reforestation, tree planting to affirm our concrete actions against climate change,” the President told the press at Anak Munting Retention Basin, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, Tuesday (12/5).

He went on to say that they planted diverse tree species in the event, both aesthetic and non-aesthetic plants.

“There are endemic plants such as bodhi tree, tabebuia, and terminalia catappa,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also said that there are many plant nurseries all over Indonesia among others, Rumpin Nursery that can produce 6 million seedlings, Labuan Bajo Nursery that can produce 5 million seedlings, and Mangrove Bali and Mentawir Nurseries that can produce 6 million and 15 million seedlings, respectively.
