President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo asserted that as state apparatus, Chief of Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and Chief of Indonesian National Police (Polri) must work hand in hand, synergize, complement each other, and cover each other.

“They must indeed work that way” President Jokowi responds to the journalists after iftar (breaking fast) together with TNI/Polri apparatus and communities, at TNI’s Cilangkap Headquarter, in East Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/6) afternoon.

As for political choice for TNI and Polri, President Jokowi firmly said that TNI/Polri’s politic is politic for the state, not anything else, and it is clear. “I have stressed it many times to the Chief of TNI, Chief of Polri, everybody, I always stress it. TNI and Polri’s politics is politics for the state. Who is the state? People, legitimate government,” the President underlined.

Regarding an increase of 771% in operational fund for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of Village Builder (Babinsa), President Jokowi elucidated that Babinsa stays all over Indonesia especially in remote areas. “They are the front-line getting in touch directly with communities, especially in regions, villages, remote areas, and at the borders. Therefore more of allowance is given. We hope their performance will be better, more concrete, and improved,” President Jokowi concluded. (UN/RAH/ES) (EPI/YM/Naster)
