President Jokowi Upbeat Car Export from Patimban Port Will Reach 180 Thousand Units This Year

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (03/08) inspected the release of car export to several countries at Patimban port in Subang regency, West Java province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his optimism that the car export from Patimban port will reach 180 thousand units this year.

“I really appreciate that the car export from Patimban port continue to increase. We have set a target of 160 thousand units to be exported, but after seeing the progress in the last three months, the target can reach 180 thousand units to be exported to the Philippines, Brunei, Japan, and Vietnam,” the President said.

Today’s car export release, the Head of State continued, is an initial step to export cars to a host of countries.

Furthermore, the President expressed his appreciation to all parties who have involved in exporting cars during COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the national industry continues to grow amid COVID-19 pandemic.

“[The release of car export amid COVID-19 pandemic] means that our national industry continues to grow. Amid COVID-19, we continue to export. And we expected that it will greatly affect national economic growth and create more employment opportunities,” he remarked.

For the record, the export from Patimban port has been carried out since December 17, 2021 and as of March 8, 2022 the export of completely built-up cars has reached 24 thousand units. (RSF/SLN/UN) (AP/MUR)
