President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has urged all components of the nation to implement and actualize the values of the state ideology Pancasila in the life of the people, the nation, and the state.

The President made the statement while leading a ceremony commemorating the birth of Pancasila held in Ende Pancasila Field in Ende regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

“Today, June 1, 2022, we commemorate the birth of Pancasila in Ende city, East Nusa Tenggara. In this city that is very rich in history, Bung Karno, the proclaimer of independence, a founding father, contemplated and formulated Pancasila that was then approved by the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI) as the state ideology and bequeathed to the nation and the state. From the city of Ende, I urge all children of the nation wherever they are to join hands to implement and actualize the high values of Pancasila in the life of the people, the nation, and the state,” he said.

According to the Head of State, Pancasila has not only unified Indonesia but has also become the nation’s guide when facing challenges and hardships.

“It has been proven time and time again in the history of the nation that our nation and state can remain to stand firmly as a strong nation because we all agree to use Pancasila as our cornerstone,” he said while reminding every Indonesian to truly practice and fight for Pancasila.

“We manifest it in the system of our society, nation, and state. We implement it in governance and also in interactions among Indonesians. This is our shared duty, the duty of all national components to use Pancasila as an ideology that is at work, that is present, that brings benefits to the entire nation of Indonesia,” he said.

As the world is still in turmoil due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is not over yet, energy and food crises, as well as the threats of extreme poverty and starvation, and as Indonesia currently holds the G20 presidency, President Jokowi asked all developed countries across the globe to work together to create a better life for humanity.

“To build a health care system that is able to face future crises and to oversee the transition to new and renewable energy for a sustainable future, with a healthier, more peaceful, more humane, and more just global governance,” he said.

Closing his remarks, the Head of State also asked all leaders of the nation to become an example in actualizing the values of Pancasila.

“I urge all leaders of the nation, especially government officials, religious leaders, public figures, educators, political party leaders, community organization leaders or figures, and other leaders to become an example in actualizing the values of Pancasila, to urge all people to actively move to strengthen the values of Pancasila in becoming an advanced Indonesia, in realizing the goals of the independence proclamation,” he remarked.
