During his working visit to South Kalimantan province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo underscored the importance of education on waste management for the people.

“So, people can reduce and manage waste. They can also reuse, reduce, and recycle. We must learn how to process and introduce household waste,” President Jokowi stated at the inauguration of Banjar Bakula Regional Waste Disposal Site in Banjar Baru, South Kalimantan province, Friday (7/2).

On that occasion, the President also encouraged continuous application of technology innovation in waste management so that the waste holds added value and can be utilized by the people. He exemplified waste-based energy sources as one of the added value.

President Jokowi also went on to say that Banjar Bakula Regional Waste Disposal Site sets a good example of synergy in waste management.

“Collaboration between regencies and cities in one province can also be done, there is no need for regional egoism,” the President said.

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I here declare the Banjar Bakula Regional Waste Disposal Site officially in operation. Thank you,” he said. (HIM/EN)
