President Jokowi Urges National Procurement Agency to Make Breakthroughs

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has urged the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP) to establish fast, transparent, and accountable system for government procurement of goods and services that provides maximum benefit value to the people.

“Please establish a real time e-procurement system by utilizing technology. Use it also to increase procurement data processing capacity to make it even faster,” the President said in his opening remarks on the National Coordination Meeting for Government Procurement of Goods and Services (via video conference), Wednesday (18/11) at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

Furthermore, the President encourages the use of technology such as big data analytics, cognitive computing, artificial intelligence, blockchain, machine learning, and others. He expressed hope that the central Government, regional governments and state institutions can do a real time monitor of the transactions value that is being carried out by using these latest technologies.

President Jokowi further said that the acceleration of budget absorption will boost demand and increase public consumption which will drive production and keep the economy growing. “We need to circulate money in this difficult situation,” he added.

The President also reminded ministries/institutions to optimize the remaining time in 2020 to realize their budget absorption immediately. “We have to spend in accordance with the existing local budget and State Budget,” he concluded. (DND/UN)
