President Jokowi Urges to Speed Up Absorption of Stimulus Budget

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Budi Gunadi Sadikin as Head of the National Economic Recovery Task Force said that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo urged to speed up the absorption of economic stimulus budget.

Budi further stated that to date, the Government has spent 19% of the Rp 695.2 trillion as of July 22. Thus,  the President instructed to speed up the spending of national economic recovery programs to support programs in the health sector

According to him, the President’s directives were as follows:

First, regarding social assistance, the President, through coordinating ministers and  ministers, ordered to accelerate the distribution of social assistance, including productive social assistance.

Second, regarding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Budi said that the implementation of existing programs, including guarantee and interest subsidy for MSMEs loans must be accelerated.

“The President also ordered to provide loans for workers, laid-off workers, and MSMEs. If possible, provide them loans with low interest,” he said.

Third, Budi stated that the President also emphasized that the Government supports the relaxation of electricity bill payments for all industries. He added that the program has been prepared together with Ministry of Finance and it is expected to complete immediately.

According to Budi, the economic working committee has cooperated with the health working committee to ensure that the Government can restore sense of security by encouraging the public to adapting to new habits so they can resume their daily activities as well as economic activities.
