President Jokowi Visits Affected Residents of Plumpang Fuel Depot Explosion

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (03/05) visited the temporary shelters in South Rawa Badak, North Jakarta for displaced residents of the exploding Plumpang depot fuel owned by state energy company Pertamina.

Arrived at the location around 09:50 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), President Jokowi witnessed the displaced residents’ condition. The President also took the time to distribute food and had a dialogue with them.

In his remarks, President Jokowi expressed condolences to the victims and prayed that the deceased families be given patience and heartiness.

“I express my deepest condolences to the victims of Plumpang incident,” he said.

In the meantime, Head of National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto stated that as of today, the incident has killed 17 people, injured 49 people with serious wound and 2 people with medium wound, and 18 people were reported missing.

“Also, we noted that there are 1,085 displaced residences that spread throughout the temporary shelters around here,” Suharyanto said. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/UN) (GWH/LW)
