President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Iriana visited Beringharjo Market in Yogyakarta (8/6), and Gede Solo Market in Central Java (9/6) during Eid holiday weekend.

On the occasion, the President was also accompanied by his two sons Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pangarep, his daughter-in-law Selvi Ananda, and his first grandson Jan Ethes Srinarendra.

President Jokowi and families walked to Beringharjo Market from the nearby Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, Gedung Agung. The people enthusiastically welcomed them throughout the route to the market. Likewise, the sellers and buyers in the market were enthusiastic to shake hands and take selfies with the President.

President Jokowi then headed to a row of stalls selling batik clothing, in the north part of the market. He helped the First Lady to choose a few pieces of batik clothing for the families.

After an hour, the President and his families left the market and immediately went to his hometown, Solo, Central Java.

The next day, President Jokowi and the families visited Gede Solo Market. The crowds also welcomed them enthusiastically. The First Lady purchased some traditional kitchen utensils while the President and sons bought some fruits such as snake fruit, persimmon, and banana.

They also bought some traditional food and beverages before leaving the market. (BPMI/EN)
