The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improve infrastructure in the Borobudur Temple area.

“In the last two years, we have made major improvements in Borobudur Temple and its surrounding area, including by improving roads around the Borobudur. We also renovate the entrance to the temple. This is one of the priority tourist destinations that we aim to improve,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said in his statement after inspecting Borobudur Temple, in Magelang regency, Central Java province, Wednesday (03/30).

The President also underscored the importance of regularly organizing cultural arts events in tourist destinations in the country, including in the Borobudur Temple.

“The most important thing is that the regular cultural arts events, routine performing arts that are continuously held at our tourist destinations, including Borobudur, must continue to be carried out to attract more tourists to come to Indonesia,” he added.

On that occasion, the President also delivered his message to those who aim to visit their hometown during this year’s Eid holiday.

“The most important thing is observing health protocols, particularly by wearing masks. You must also get complete vaccine doses, plus a booster dose, to protect all of us,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RI/MMB)
