President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (9/4) visited evacuation shelter for people affected by flash floods in Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Although the victims are still grieving for the loss, the presence of President Jokowi lifted their spirits. Children were excited when the President played with them and read books for them, while the adults and local volunteers who were making food in the public kitchen were comforted by the President’s visit.

On that occasion, President Jokowi distributed aid to people affected by the disaster. Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini arrived at the disaster site before the President to ensure that the aid is properly distributed. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT/UN) (RAS/MMB)
