President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in a working visit to South Kalimantan Province on Monday (18/1) inspected locations affected by the flood in Pakauman Village, East Martapura District, Banjar Regency.

On the Pekauman Bridge, President Jokowi also gave orders to relevant officials, including Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono and Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo.

During the inspection, the President handed over assistance of basic necessities, ready-to-eat food, and masks to a number of residents in the affected locations.

Before the President went to the province, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono stated that the President’s visit aims at inspecting facilities and infrastructure damaged by the disaster.

In addition, the President will also oversee whether the needs of the affected residents in the evacuation sites have been fulfilled.

“Facilities that are affected (by the disaster) will be inspected by the President so that Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing can immediately take follow-up actions. The President will also pay attention to other necessities needed by the residents,” Heru said. (BPMI/UN) (FI/MMB)
