President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (05/07) inspected Kampung Ujung culinary tourism area of Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

At the culinary hub that sells various kinds of seafood, President Jokowi greeted the sellers and gave them red aprons.

One of the food vendors, Nurhayati, said she was happy with the Head of State’s visit. “President Jokowi also asked me how much one portion of shrimp costs, and I answered Rp100,000,” she added.

Nurhayati also noted that her stall is increasingly visited by buyers, especially when Labuan Bajo was designated as the location for the 42nd ASEAN Summit and expressed gratitude for the event.

Echoing a similar sentiment, one of the fried rice sellers at the culinary tourism area, Apri, also expressed gratitude for the increasing number of buyers of his products.

“Sales are increasing and the stalls are getting busier with tourists who come here for the Summit. I am very grateful for the ASEAN Summit,” Apri said. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (GWH/MUR)
