President Jokowi Visits Klandasan Market

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (10/25), started his working visit by visiting the Klandasan Market, Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan province.

The President greeted market traders and street vendors and handed over social assistance to them.

Liani, a market trader who met and talked with President Jokowi at the market, expressed her gratitude and expressed hope to meet with the President on another occasion.

“I’m happy [that the President] gave me assistance because the market is empty. I’m happy. Hopefully, [the President] will return another time to visit the Klandasan Market,” Liani said.

Another trader named Alfiah also expressed her gratitude for having received assistance from the President.

“How do you want [the assistance] to be used?” asked the President.

Alfiah mentioned that the Rp 1.5 million of the assistance would be used to purchase medicine for her legs, which were affected by stroke symptoms.

Furthermore, Rusdi, a staple food vendor, expressed his joy at President Jokowi’s visit to the Klandasan Market. Rusdi also expressed hope that the market can be repaired as soon as possible.

“I am very happy [that the President visited us], greeting everyone. The assistance is for additional capital and daily living expenses, alhamdulillah, thank God.
