President Joko “Jokowi” Widoodo Friday (07/12) inspected Kota Agung traditional market in Tanggamus regency, Lampung province.

On that occasion, the President received a warm welcome from the residents, spent time interacting directly with local traders, checked the prices of basic commodities, and handed over working capital assistance.

Afterwards, the President was engaged in a dialogue with several traders to inquire about price conditions and stock availability in the market.

According to Yunus, a trader of chili and onions, normal prices range around Rp35,000 for red chilies and Rp25,000 for shallots.

“The supply of the commodities is secure, and it has been stable for the past three months,” he said, while expressing his joy at receiving additional capital from the President.

Ning, a vegetable seller, also expressed her excitement after having the opportunity to take photos and shake hands with the President. She also expressed hope for success for all ‘rupiah fighters’ and conveyed gratitude to the President.

“Well, Agnes Monica who? My dream was to shake hands with Mr. Jokowi. It’s just as exciting as seeing the Kaaba right before you,” she said enthusiastically.

Yatin, another trader who received assistance, expressed her gratitude to the President. She said she intended to use the aid for purchasing school children’s clothing and meeting basic food needs.

“I am so happy. Thank you, Mr Jokowi,” she said.

For the record, the visit is part of a series of the President’s working visits in Lampung province, showing the President’s commitment to supporting small traders and ensuring the availability and stability of basic commodity prices.

The assistance is expected to enhance the daily operations of traders and contribute to the strengthening of the local economy. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/EP)
