President Jokowi Visits Pejagan – Pemalang Toll Road Construction Site

President Jokowi, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo and a number of ministers, inspects the development of Pejagan – Pemalang Toll Road Project

In his journey from Karang Birahi Helipad, Brebes, to the location of the Launching of Action Synergy Program for People’s Economic at Agribusiness Terminal in Larangan Village, Larangan Subdistrict, Brebes, Central Java Province, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Monday (11/4) made an impromptu visit to the construction site of Pejagan – Pemalang TollRoad to inspect the development of the project.

The toll road, which spans 57.5 kilometers and links Pejagan, Brebes and Pemalang, consists of four sections: Section I (Pejagan-West Brebes) – 14.20 kilometers, Section II (West Brebes-East Brebes) – 6 kilometers, Section III (East Brebes – East Tegal) – 10.40 kilometers and Section IV (East Tegal – West Tegal) – 26.90 kilometers.

After the visit, President Jokowi said that the construction of Section I and Section II spanning 21 kilometers has been finished.

“We hope the toll road (Section I and II) can be in operation for this year’s Eid al-Fitr Day holiday season. After that, we have to do another 37 kilometers. In one year, Insha Allah, we hope it can be completed. I have set a target to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Minister of State-owned Enterprises, and President Director of PT. Waskita Karya that it can be completed in one year,” President Jokowi said.

Presiden Jokowi also underlined that the toll road project could be completed fast.

“In 14 months, it can be finished (if the construction is done) day and night ,” the President added.

After May 2016, President Jokowi said that the construction of the toll road would be continued for Batang – Semarang section spanning 75 kilometers.

Also accompanyingthe President during the visit were First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno, Governor of Central Java Province Ganjar Pranowo and President Director of state-run construction company PT.
