President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo once again visited quake-hit Lombok Island on Sunday (2/9) and visited an evacuation center located in Gunung Sari Sub-district, West Lombok.

On that occasion, the President met and cheered up approximately 200 affected children.

“I want someone to come forward here,” the President said to the children.

Habi and Izna, who were in grade 5 and 6, respectively, come forward to the President. Both of them were given questions about sums and multiplications and the President gave them school bags as a gift for their right answer.

A number of other children also scrambled to come forward after the President asked them again. A first grader student named Rifki was chosen to answers the President’s question.

“Rifki, what is the answer for one plus one plus one plus one?” the President asked.

Without thinking, Rifki immediately answered the question correctly and managed to answer the second question from the President which is little more difficult.

“You are really smart. Here is a bag for you,” President Jokowi said.

In this working visit, the President spent a night at the evacuation center and continued to inspect directly the post-earthquake relief efforts that occurred in the Island some time ago.

For the record, President Jokowi previously announced that he will not be attending the 2018 Asian Games closing ceremony on Sunday. The President said that he would not be able to attend the closing ceremony because he had to visit Lombok earthquake survivors in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). He added that he would watch the event on television with the people of Lombok.

Since earthquake hit the province, President Jokowi has visited NTB twice, the first time in late July and the second time in mid-August. (BPMI/EN) (GWH/EP/Naster)
