President Jokowi Visits Quake Victims Shelter in Cijedil Village

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (12/08) in Cijendil village kicked off his working visit to Cianjur regency, West Java province by visiting emergency shelter of the State Intelligence Agency for the residents affected by the recent quake.

The President greeted and talked with the residents, who have been staying at the shelter for the last three weeks.  He also distributed fast food and staple food packages to the residents.

On that occasion, President Jokowi told the residents that housing assistance for affected family of Cianjur quake is disbursed today and will be given proportionally based on the level of damages of the houses.

The President expressed hope that the owners of damaged houses can start cleaning the debris of the quake to speed up the rehabilitation process.

In addition, he confirmed that personnel of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) will help the process.

“We expect you to start cleaning your house. If it is still inhabitable, the TNI and Polri will help rebuild it,” he concluded. (BPMI of Vice Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/EP)
