President Jokowi Visits Sambonggede Market in E. Java
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi, Thursday (04/06) visited Sambonggede Market in Tuban regency, East Java province, to check the prices of a number of basic commodities in the market.
“I find the prices are really good here, such as Rp28,000 for chickens, Rp30,000 for shallots, and Rp28-29,000 for chillies. Compared to other regencies and provinces, the prices here are the cheapest,” the President stated.
The President believed that the abundant production of commodities in the region makes the prices of a number of basic necessities cheaper. In addition, the availability of commodities also affects the price of commodities in the region.
“Earlier Madam Governor also said that [the region] has an abundant supply of chickens. Therefore, the price is cheaper than that of other cities, that of other regions. That is good,” he said.
On the occasion, the President and the First Lady also distributed a number of social assistance and basic necessities to the beneficiaries and traders at the market. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (FI/HD)
