President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Wednesday (2/1) visited several locations in Lampung province affected by the Sunda Strait tsunami, which hit the southern part of the province on 22 December 2018.

The President also visited affected residents at the evacuation centers.

Arriving at Radin Inten II Airport, South Lampung Regency at 09:05 WIB (West Indonesian Time), the President and his entourage were welcomed by Lampung Governor Muhammad Ridho Ficardo, Sriwijaya Regional Military Commander (Pangdam II/Sriwijaya) Major General Irwan, and Chief of Lampung Regional Police Inspector General Purwadi Arianto.

“The President is scheduled to visit Rajabasa District and Kalianda District, South Lampung Regency,” Deputy to Presidential Secretariat Chief for Protocol, Press, and Media Affairs Bey Machmudin said in his press release.

The President will also visit residents affected by Sunda Strait tsunami who are receiving treatment at hospitals in South Lampung Regency, he added.

Joining the President during the visit were Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of Health Nila Moeloek, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko.
