President Jokowi: Vocational Schools Should Enhance Cooperation with Industry
Vocational schools should work hand in hand with industry so that the students’ skills will match the industrial demand, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has stated.
“I see that (this school) has established cooperation with the industry. There is demand from the industry, and the students develop their skills in the industry,” the President said after inspecting the Public Vocational High School (SMKN) 2 Palembang, Palembang city, South Sumatra province, Thursday (10/26).
On that occasion, the President also expressed his appreciation to the students for their achievements in arts, cinematography, and sports.
President Jokowi also praised the school for providing facilities to support students’ practical learning, and encouraged other vocational schools to continue to improve facilities to develop students’ skills.
Regarding employment, the President underscored the importance of developing excellent human capital and expanding job creation.
“We open investment opportunities to create jobs for alumnus of Vocational High Schools, universities and other educational institutions,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RI/MMB)
