President Jokowi, VP Ma’ruf Amin Attend National Remembrance, Supplication

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin accompanied by attendees of the National Remembrance and Supplication for the 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day, Jakarta, Tuesday (08/01).

To mark the opening of the Independence Month series of activities, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin Tuesday (08/01) attended the National Remembrance and Supplication for the 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day at Merdeka Palace courtyard, Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

“I invite all kiai (Islamic teachers), habaib, religious scholars, religious leaders, and students who are here, as well as all element of society who attend online, to together recite remembrance and supplication. Let us ask for Allah’s pleasure. Ask for His protection and blessings so that our nation will continue to make progress to be Advanced Indonesia,” President Jokowi said.

On the occasion, the Vice President expressed gratitude for Indonesia to able to go through the COVID-19 pandemic well.

“Let us make this opportunity as a momentum to be grateful for we are free from COVID-19, alhamdulillah,” Vice President Ma’ruf said, adding that such success was inseparable from the support and prayers of all the people and the help of Allah.

The highlight of the event was the national remembrance led by K.H. Munif Zuhri and the national supplication by Habib Luthfi bin Yahya accompanied by five interfaith leaders. (FID/UN) (GWH/MUR)
