President Jokowi Warns Minister of Agrarian about Complicated Process of Obtaining Certificate

At the launching of Synergy Action Program for People’s Economy in Agrobusiness Terminal, Larangan Village, Brebes Regency, Central Java Province, on Monday (11/4) afternoon, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo mentioned several problems that make people difficult to get out of poverty, while they live in the center of agricultural productions, for example Brebes as the production center of shallot.

The President mentioned that the first problem is land certificate. “Why farmers, fishermen, micro, small and medium entrepreneurs do not apply for a bank loan? Many of them go to loan shark instead. It is because they do not have certificate as a collateral loan.

The President thought that people do not have to process the certificates on their own. Our banks must also assist them. “Banks must advance money to the people if they do not have certificates. They are going to take loan from the banks anyway. The banks, such as Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and others must implement it,” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi warned the Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/ National Land Agency Ferry Mursyidan Baldan about long and complicated process of obtaining a certificate.

“It is complicated. When I said so, people always agree with me. It is obviously complicated and I will check it shortly. I will immediately check what is the problem,” President Jokowi said while mentioning that since decades, the certificate has been taking long time to be finished. “We must end this,” the President stated.

The President reminded all that this is the era of information technology. All matters could be finished rapidly. A certificate can no longer take months or years to finish. “I do not want it. A rapid system must be established in order to satisfy people, to provide ease of doing business, and to provide an easy way to get loan from a bank. There are much land that have not been certified due to the complicated bureaucracy at the National Land Agency,” President Jokowi firmly said.
