President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Thursday (2/12), watched the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals on the sidelines of his working visit in Bali province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi watched women’s singles match between India’s Pusarla Venkata Sindhu and Germany’s Yvonne Li and mixed doubles match between Japan’s Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino and Malaysia’s Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing.

After the games, the President met with Indonesian badminton athletes winning the 2021 Thomas Cup last October. He appreciated the athletes and Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) for the achievement that ended the 19-year wait to win the title.

“It is such a long-awaited achievement and once again let me express my highest appreciation for [winning] the Thomas Cup and other events as mentioned earlier by Chairperson of the PBSI,” the President said.

Also accompanying President Jokowi in that event were among others, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Chairperson of the PBSI Agung Firman Sampurna, and Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster.
